Chapter 24~ Stuck together
“I’m sorry for inconveniencing you. I won’t say anything you can leave, I know how busy you are.” Rose said as she lay down on the bed.
It had been a few minutes since they arrived home and Grandpa had warned them he’d watch them like a
hawk.
Ethan took off his jacket and hung it on the chair before walking to Rose pulling out her shoes and placing them down. He sat at the edge of the bed and began to rub her feet.
Rose was shocked and couldn’t believe that Ethan was touching her feet, she looked at him but didn’t say anything.
His eyebrows were drawn together and his long eyelashes were on display. Ethan was extremely good- looking with a perfect body and lips that liked to pout when he was upset about something. 11
“Are you angry?”
“No, I’m not angry. I just don’t understand why you keep things from me. You could have told me you were still sick and I wouldn’t have snapped at you.” His voice was stern but not cold.
‘I tried but you couldn’t let me!‘ Rose thought but kept the thoughts to herself.
“I just didn’t want to disturb you.”
“Well, I’m now telling you to disturb me. Promise me you won’t keep things from me!” His gray eyes looked into her brown ones and it stopped her heart for a second.
Ethan was so handsome but what stood out the most were his eyes, you could never tell what he was thinking or feeling unless you looked into them. But many were afraid and that was why they never
understood him. (2
Rose wanted to, but she couldn’t make that promise until she told him about the pregnancy. She wanted to say it but wondered how he’d take it so she threw a bait to test him,
“I’ll try not to keep anything but I’m not promising!”
“That’s a good start.” Ethan offered her his extremely rare smile.
Rose’s stomach flipped as butterflies swam inside her tummy. She felt like a teenager who had just gotten a response from her crush. 1
“Ethan.”
“Mmmm.”
“Do you ever think about having kids? Or seeing yourself as a father?” Rose asked.
Her heart was pounding wildly as she spoke because she knew she was treading on dangerous grounds. What he’d say would determine a lot of things. Her eyes moved to his hands and noticed that he had stiffened.
“No, I don’t want kids right now. They’re an inconvenience and I’m extremely busy for such kind of a
commitment!”

Rose’s heart sank ten feet under and was buried under the soil. Her dreams were crushed and her heart felt like she was being stabbed with a knife.
‘So, I was excited for nothing! Who am I kidding, he probably wants to have kids with his love Zoe once they’re reunited!‘
Tears blurred her vision but she blinked them back, she couldn’t cry not now. Not in front of him.
But the words kept echoing in her mind.
“Inconvenience”
“I’m too busy”
“Commitment ”
“But what if I had gotten accidentally pregnant, would you ask me to abort?” She asked the question that was weighing her down.
Ethan stood and pulled out his phone, “Bring us some food,” he said before turning to Rose, “What do you want to eat?”
‘Silence oftentimes means, yes. So he’d ask me to abort our child?‘ Rose thought as she grabbed onto her stomach protectively.
“Rose?” Ethan’s voice made her eyes shoot up.
Rose cleared her throat, “Some warm pasta with cheese will be nice.”
Ethan nodded and went back to instruct whoever was on the other end.
Feeling like she had been hit and her heart wasn’t functioning anymore, Ethan cut the call and walked back to the bed, and joined her.
“Do you like movies?” He asked.
Any other day would have excited Rose. Knowing Ethan had actually stayed with her and wanted to bond and do things she liked would have sent her over the moon. But now, it just wasn’t as exciting for her.
She felt gloomy and small talk was the least she wanted, she just wanted to sleep and hope this was a dream. She hoped the father of her child didn’t just unconsciously say he’d make her abort.
A part of her wondered if he would change his mind later on. So she vowed to keep the baby hidden until it was too big to abort and that would leave him with no choice.
Otherwise, she’d have to run away, and all the money she had was in the Sinclair cards. So they’d easily cut her off and make her suffer.
“I’m waiting for your response,” Ethan pushed gently.
“Oh sorry, yes I do like movies. But I’m into Anime right now.” Rose said.
Ethan watched her, “Do you have something on your mind? You seem to zone out often lately!”
Rose scoffed internally, ‘I don’t know how I’m supposed to be when you literally just said you’d make me abort!‘

“Nothing really,”
“If you say so,” Ethan responded as he switched the channels to put Anime for Rose.
But her mind was elsewhere forming an escape plan. She zoned out and didn’t know how long it was before Ethan opened the door and grabbed the tray of food.
He placed his plate on the side table and picked the plate that had the pasta for Rose.
But the moment the scent of cheese hit her nose, it caused nausea and she couldn’t hold it in. Rose
rushed out and vomited everything that was left in her stomach.
She brushed her teeth, and walked back to the room where she found Ethan standing and staring intently at her,
“What was that? Rose, are you pregnant?”
