Chapter 17 ~ Favours another
Ethan was angry. He left without saying another word to Rose and drove off. His heart clenched and his Jaw ticked at Rose’s response.
What plans? Were they plans with Mason?
How could she reject his date invitation like that? She used light up and jump at every little affection he showed her.
But now all she ever did was look at him coldly. Like she didn’t want him in her life and that bothered him. Ethan didn’t know what to call what he was feeling but he didn’t like it.
Gripping the steering wheel so tightly, he speeded through the traffic.
“Why am I even angry?” He mumbled under his breath not understanding what was making bothered.
His phone vibrated making him clench his Jaw as he swiped right to pick up. “What!”
“I’m sorry to bother you Sir, but your grandfather is requesting for you and Madam.”
“She’s busy tell him I’ll come alone. I’m almost there anyway!” He responded and cut the line.

The last thing he wanted was to turn around to pick Rose only for her to look at him like he was a piece of trash.
Back at the Sinclair Mansion, Alfred had brought the sitting plan and guest list to Anderson.
Since he wanted to help Rose have a smooth and successful exhibition, he requested that she sends him the list so that he could advise on pricing and setting up.
Rose had called that she wasn’t feeling well so she asked Alfred to pick up the plan from her office and have it delivered on her behalf.
As he walked forward, he didn’t see Jane coming and bumped into her making the documents fall to the floor.
“Why don’t
you watch where you’re going!” Jane snarled
Just like the other workers, Alfred never liked Jane and her mother. They were extremely rude and bullied the servants everyday. But he didn’t want any problems with Andrew, Ethan’s father who always took their side.
“My apologies, miss,” Alfred said as he bent over to pick them up. As he moved, one document caught her attention. It was written in bold letters:
EXHIBITION SITTING ARRANGEMENT
“Wait!” Jane demanded, “What is that?”
“It’s classified information, miss.”
Alfred grabbed the documents quickly and walked away. Jane’s curiosity was growing and her heart was boiling in anger, “How dare he?”

After trying too hard to win his favor, it seemed Anderson kept on disliking her by the day. Unlike Rose, she had no access to any of the family’s wealth. Even when she wanted to go shopping, she had to use a select number of cars and she hated it.
She wanted Rose out of the picture and what better way to kill two birds with one stone than to turn Ethan against her?
Tip–toeing to the office where Anderson was, she pressed her ear against the door.
“Is this all?” Anderson’s voice came through.
“Yes sir. Mrs Sinclair made the sitting arrangements herself.”
‘So that bitch Rose wants to grab everything and suck Grandpa dry!? Jane boiled as she clenched her hands into fists.
“Did she? Mmm, this is very good.” Anderson said with pride in his voice as he flipped through the
pages.
I have a meeting with a few investors who will be coming in. So I’ll look at this later. Tell Ethan to see me when he just arrives!”
“Alright, sir,” Alfred responded.
Jane quickly moved from where she was hiding and rushed to the nearby corner.
She saw her grandfather walk out with Alfred behind her. After a few minutes, she walked to the office and smirked when she discovered that the door was still unlocked.
Jane rushed to where the documents and copies were and perused through them. Anger bubbled inside her when she found nothing that she could use against Rose until a familiar name crossed her.
“Mason Chen?” On the sitting plan, Mason had a sit next to Rose and Ethan was nowhere to be seen.
A smile crossed her lips because she knew who Mason was. She just had to find a way to add salt to the wound
Grabbing a copy, she placed everything back and rushed to the printing room. She quickly made a copy and went back and placed everything in place.
Just as she was closing the door, she could hear Ethan’s grumpy tone as he spoke to Alfred.
Jane took the opportunity and rushed downstairs, an evil laugh in her mind.
“Hi, Ethan?” Jane greeted as Alfred stepped out of the house.
“What is it?” Ethan’s cold voice responded, that was a signal that he was in a bad mood and didn’t want anyone to speak to him.
But Ethan was always in a bad mood and Jane knew he hated her so she continued,
“I picked this paper as I was coming downstairs and saw Rose’s name on it. But I’ve noticed that you’re on your own so I was wondering if you can pass it to her.” She stretched her hand with the paper in her hand.
Ethan’s jaw ticked and his mood got even worse, “Give it to her when she visits!” Ethan responded and started to walk when Jane followed him,

“But maybe she needs it urgently! It’s the sitting arrangement plan and the exhibition is soon. Don’t you think she doesn’t even know where it is?”
Ethan sighed, turned to grab the paper, and was about to walk away when Jane’s next words stopped him,
“I didn’t know Mason was interested in Jewelry! Seeing he has the best seat at the exhibition must mean he’s a VIP customer. Isn’t that wonderful?”
“Whose exhibition?” Ethans voice was cold and lethal it cut through the air.
