Chapter 16 – Rejected Date
The ride back home was uncomfortable and awkward, Rose wanted the ground to swallow her whole so she could escape Ethan’s new side.
She was still shocked that he acted that possessively towards her and a thought crossed her mind, ‘Was he jealous?‘
But how could a man who didn’t love her get jealous of Mason or was it just his Ego that had been bruised?
Ethan felt like something was stuffed in his chest when he saw Mason getting close to Rose. He didn’t know why but he hated it and knew he would blow up if he didn’t leave with her.
As he drove, he was still in a bad mood especially since Rose didn’t even introduce him as her husband to Mason. He felt like she was hiding the fact that she was married.
“Where is your ring?” Ethan glanced at Rose before turning his eyes back on the road.
“I don’t wear it in public. You told me I should only wear it during family meetings for the sake of grandpa or have you forgotten?” Rose replied in a sassy tone making Ethan’s jaw clench.
What was going on with him? This wasn’t like him at all! Rose wondered.
“Why did you go out dressed like that?” Ethan’s deep voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
“Like what?“.
Looking beautiful, he thought but he couldn’t bring himself to say it so he said instead, “Are you not aware of how you’re dressed?”
Rose scoffed, “For sure this man knows how to get on my nerves!‘
She rolled her eyes and looked elsewhere. Rose didn’t think there was anything wrong with the dress she wore so she didn’t understand why he was making a big deal out of it.
“So you went to see Mason without a ring? You could have won it so he doesn’t get comfortable around you or Do you want a divorce so you can be with him?” Ethan accused.
“If you’re going to keep asking me questions that don’t make sense then drop me off, I can take a taxi!”
“Why would I leave you in the middle of the road?”
“You didn’t have a problem with it last time, don’t pull that card on me! I’m passed your games, Ethan.” Rose’s voice was so cold It made Ethan clench his Jaw so tightly.
From the corner of his eyes, he could see how cold her face had become which was so different from how she was as she laughed with Mason.
‘Do I make her so unhappy? A thought crossed his mind but he didn’t know why he cared so much.
“Why are you doing this? Why even offer to take me home? Rose’s sharp voice pulled him back and his mood darkened even more.
But he didn’t answer, Rose knew he was angry but she couldn’t for the life of her understand why he was behaving this way.

Chapter 16 – Rejected Date
“How are you feeling?” Ethan changed the subject
Rose thought he’d hit his brain and lost it somewhere. “What?” She asked unsure she heard him correctly.
“I asked how-”
“Why did you insist on bringing me home Ethan? You ruined my date!” Rose cut him off.
Ethan’s jaw ticked at the word ‘date‘ he gripped his steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white.
“I asked you a question!”
“You’re my wife. I shouldn’t have to explain why I want to take you home.” He responded coldly.
Rose scoffed at that and turned to face outside. She didn’t want to admit it but the way he claimed her made something in her shift. The memory of how he called for her the night he got drunk made her cheeks hit but she refused to give in.
“When are you coming back home? Grandpa has been asking about it.”
“I don’t know,” Rose responded in a clipped tone as Ethan turned into the estate where Natalie’s apartment was.
“Rose,” Ethan began after he killed the engine but Rose didn’t even wait for his next words when she unfastened her seatbelt and stepped out.
The cold wind slapped her face but she didn’t dwell too much on it as she rushed upstairs. She couldn’t spend another second with him because she didn’t trust herself.
As she took the final stair and was about to turn, a strong firm hand gripped her wrist and pulled her back making her hit into his chest.
“What the hell!” Rose spat but her heart was beating wildly and her knees weakened as Ethan’s scent hit her.
He was so close that he pushed her back against the wall and pressed into her. Without warning, he crashed his lips into hers sending an electric shock straight to her spine making her legs weak.
The kiss was rushed like he needed her air to fill his lungs. Like he had been longing for it for the longest. He pulled her close and Rose melted into his touch, her core throbbing and her entire body awakened.
After being married to the man she loved all her life, this was the first time he kissed her this way. Her brain felt like it had been exploded with fireworks. He tugged on her bottom lip and made her moan, creating more room for his tongue to devour her.
Her brain was screaming at her to pull away. That he’d only hurt her. But her body had a mind of its own until she finally regained strength and pulled away from him.
With swollen lips, a flushed face, and messed up emotions, Rose couldn’t meet his gaze as she fumbled with her bag and tried to look for a key when she felt a warm hand reach for her.
“Here, let me help you,” Ethan said in a hoarse voice, clearly affected by the kiss too.
He took the key out and unlocked the apartment but he didn’t step in. Ethan looked so hot and sexy as he leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed on his chest, “Go on a date with me.”

“Why? So that you can disappoint me again? I’d rather not let my heart go through such pain again. Goodnight Ethan, I’m sure Zoe is waiting for you.”
“Rose, please let me make it up to you. There is nothing between Zoe and I. I told you.” He straightened and held her gaze.
His gray’s starting to form a Storm inside them making Rose’s heart skip a bit. Sighing heavily, she knew history would repeat and this time she wouldn’t give him the power to hurt her. So she shook her head and said.
“I already have plans. Goodnight, Ethan.”
