Chapter 25
Celebrating the Wolf Moon Festival in Tamaris’s summer was a novel experience for both fris and Sarah. The Silver family had brought traditional pack blessing tokens from the Northern Territories, and the two young she wolves decorated their shared apartment with red luck charms and protection runes.
Watching their den transform into a festive space, Iris felt the true spirit of the festival for the first time since her grandmother’s passing. Though Reed had spent festival nights with her in past years, he’d always arrived late, leaving her alone during the sacred preparation hours. Her solitude had felt deeper then, highlighted by the sounds of other packs celebrating together.
She’d thought marriage would change that this year. Instead, fate had brought her a different kind of family bond.
Mrs. Silver emerged from the kitchen with a platter of moon–blessed meat, her maternal warmth radiating. “Iris, dear, these are Sarah’s favorites. Try them and tell me if they suit your taste.”
Before Iris could comment, Sarah bounded over like an eager pup, mouth open expectantly. When Iris tried to cool the meat before feeding it to her, Sarah’s impatience led to a comical dance of burned tongues and laughter.
“Don’t spoil her,” Mrs. Silver said, wrapping an arm around Iris. “She’s already too focused on food
instead of her studies.”
Sarah gulped water, pouting. “What spoiling? Iris loves me! We’re like true pack sisters already!”
Her puppy–like enthusiasm made Iris’s wolf rumble with amusement.
Emboldened by Iris’s smile, Sarah grabbed her hand. “Why not make it official? Be my pack sister! I’ll help with den duties, keep you entertained, hunt with you – we’re perfect together!”
Mrs. Silver tapped her daughter’s forehead playfully. “Are you seeking a sister bond or just guaranteed access to Iris’s cooking?”
Myi
“Mom! My intentions are pure! No ulterior motives!”
Sarah turned back to Iris, eyes pleading. “Please? Then I can officially call you sister!”
It wasn’t a difficult decision. Iris’s wolf had already accepted Sarah as pack.
Silver appeared with a platter of ritual fish, nodding approvingly. “It’s good. Two young

with her, Iris.”
Mrs. Silver produced two identical boxes. Inside were matching moonstone bracelets traditional symbols of pack sisterhood.
Iris tried to decline such significant gifts, but the Silvers insisted. “We’re pack now,” Sarah declared, fastening the bracelet around Iris’s wrist.
In return, Iris gave Sarah one of her grandmother’s jade bangles ancient pack heirlooms meant to be shared between sisters.
The precious stones clinked together as the newly bonded sisters raised their glasses with their pack
ders, celebrating not just the festival, but their newly forged family bonds.
A new year, a new pack, a new beginning.
