Chapter 7
“You clueless fool, if you keep causing trouble, you can forget about this wedding today!”
Natalia, clearly feeling humiliated, glared at me with resentment. I let out a cold laugh.
“Do you know why? Because you’re not the billionaire’s wife. Your husband isn’t a billionaire.”
“The real billionaire is the man standing next to me.”
Natalia insisted firmly, “Impossible! My husband is right here with me, and you’re all pretending to
rich!” She turned to Jack, “Honey, tell them they’re impersonating you. Expose them!”
Jack’s face turned pale, and his eyes flickered nervously, avoiding Natalia’s question altogether. Edward, fed up, decided to set the record straight.
“Jack, you’ve got some nerve. You dared to use my sports car without permission.”
“And the ring your so–called fiancée is talking about? It’s the engagement ring I prepared for Kate, and you secretly took it!”
With that, the entire truth came to light. Jack’s face flushed red, and he lowered his head. “I’m sorry,
boss. I know I was wrong. Can you give me one more chance?”
Hearing this, Natalia’s eyes reddened, and she shouted at him, “What did you just say?! He’s your
boss? So what are you, then?”
My parents looked completely bewildered, asking, “Son–in–law, what are you saying? Are you
drunk?”
Jack opened his mouth to speak, but I cut him off, addressing Natalia. “He’s nothing but my
husband’s driver. That’s how he used my husband’s car to take you on dates, used my engagement ring to propose to you, and even booked this hotel under my husband’s name.”
Natalia’s face went blank with disbelief.
;
“You dared to deceive me! If you hadn’t pretended to be a billionaire, I’d never have looked at someone like you!”
She erupted into a hysterical fit, screaming wildly. The relatives who had been watching the spectacle now looked dumbfounded.

Several prominent New York businesspeople, who had come to offer a toast to Edward, also realized they’d been tricked.
“Mr. Lewis, we were told today was your wedding…” They finally understood that the event had been a ruse, using Edward’s name.
“So you used Mr. Lewis’s identity to book this venue and even tricked us into thinking it was his wedding. Unbelievable!”
Ignoring the businesspeople, Jack, now furious and humiliated, yelled at Natalia.
“You delusional gold digger! You wanted to marry a billionaire? If you weren’t so materialistic, you wouldn’t have been foolish enough to fall for my lies!”
Seething, Natalia slapped Jack and tried to storm off, but I grabbed her arm.
“Leaving so soon? Not so fast.”
“Weren’t you just claiming the ring was missing? That’s the ring Edward gave me, and I’d like to find it. Let’s call the police to help us search.”
Natalia glared at me, her eyes fierce. “Fine! I’ll give it back!” She took out the ring and handed it to
- me.
I smiled slightly, “You’re not going anywhere. I’ve already called the police, so stay put until they
arrive.”
When my mother heard I’d called the police, she hurried over, grabbing my
hand.
“Kate, you and Natalia are family, after all. No matter how much you dislike her, don’t turn her over to the police. You’d ruin her life.”
“And we’re getting old; being dragged to the police station would be a huge embarrassment for s
Please, Kate, don’t make a scene.”
I scoffed, “You’ve never treated me as family. And now you suddenly remember we’re family?”
In the end, Natalia, Jack, and my parents were taken to the police station. The relatives who had been cozying up to Natalia yesterday didn’t even bother to visit her. Not surprising–they were just like fair–weather friends, switching sides when convenient.
