Chapter 1
Chapter 1
On our daughter’s kindergarten activity day, my husband Antonio Kaufman said he had to skip it because of work.
He even forbade me and our daughter Leah to go there.
I could tell Leah was really disappointed, so I decided to take her there myself.
But then, we found Antonio right at the kindergarten.
He was holding hands with Sophia Ross, his childhood
sweetheart, a little boy in his arm. Together, they looked like a picture–perfect family.
It wasn’t until he spotted Leah and me that he frowned slightly and let go of Sophia’s hand.
“Grace, don’t get the wrong idea. It’s not easy for Sophia to be a single mother. Today’s her son’s fifth birthday, and he wants to feel some fatherly love,” Antonio explained.
I forced a smile, took Leah’s hand, and told her, “Sweetie, this is your uncle.”
Seeing this, Sophia quickly took her son from Antonio’s arms, looking apologetic. “Please don’t be mad. Antonio is trying to be kind.
“You know, my son has never had a dad.
“Today is his fifth birthday, so he wants a dad to be with him.”

I smiled at her. “You can find someone else to be a dad to your son. Antonio already has a daughter.”
Sophia was a bit shocked, and the little boy she was holding started to cry. “Dad, you said you’d stay with me and Mom today.”
With that, he glared at me with a fierce look.
Before I could respond, Antonio stepped in front of them and scolded me, “Grace, you’re a mother too.
“Can’t you have some sympathy for others? Sophia and I have been friends since we were kids. I just want to spend the day with them. Why can’t you be more understanding?”
“Why should I? Sophia’s misfortune isn’t my fault,” I thought.
But I didn’t argue with Antonio.
Other parents started to arrive with their children, and someone came over to greet us.
“Good morning! You guys always show up together for the kindergarten’s family days.
“You’re better parents than my husband. He always says he’s too busy with work and doesn’t care about our child’s growth at all.”
Sophia gave a few awkward responses, while Antonio’s eyes flickered with a moment of panic
1 managed a weak smile and confronted him, “Antonio, is this what you meant by just being Jacob’s dad for one day?”

Frustrated and angry, Antonio grabbed my arm.
“Grace, can’t you be more understanding and sensible?”
He glanced down at Leah and warned me in a low voice, “If this gets out, it won’t be good for our daughter.”
Leah hadn’t quite grasped the idea that her father was having an affair.
She just pressed close to my leg and held my hand.
Feeling her unease, I squatted down, stroked her hair, and whispered, “Don’t worry, sweetie. Mommy’s right here. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
I watched Antonio walk away with Sophia and Jacob.
In no time, they were swarmed by a bunch of people.
Many people gathered around to chat with Antonio.
They praised him for his successful career, having become the CEO of a billion–dollar company in his early thirties.
Antonio looked very pleased, and Sophia’s eyes were glued to him, like she was proud too.
Jacob, who was in Antonio’s arms, turned back and made a face at me.
I just smiled, for none of them knew that I owned 75% of the shares in Antonio’s company.
I needed to take care of my daughter, so I didn’t go to the office much.
Chapter 1
After we got married, Antonio said he wanted a fancy job. Since he was begging for it, I gave him a spot as the General
Manager.
At this thought, I took out my phone and texted our HR: “Levi, get Antonio out of the manager’s seat and make it official by next Monday.”
Then I texted our lawyer: “Luke, draw up a divorce agreement between Antonio and me.”
Antonio seemed to have forgotten that he owed his success entirely to my help.
