Betrayal 8

Betrayal 8

Chapter 8
My father had originally planned to gift Darkmoon Pack to me as a wedding present. Afterwards, Darkmoon Pack and Wilderness Pack could merge.
Once Alpha Joseph and I became mates, Wilderness Pack was able to make a comeback
with the help of Darkmoon Pack. If it weren’t for the protection of my father, Alpha Casper, Wilderness Pack would have been overtaken by other wolf packs long ago.
But now that the mate bond between Alpha Joseph and me has been dissolved, there’s no need for cooperation between Darkmoon Pack
and Wilderness Pack.

Back at Darkmoon Pack, with my father’s help, I entered the management ranks. Soon, I succeeded him as the Alpha of Darkmoon Pack.
The cancellation of my wedding with Alpha Joseph quickly became public knowledge. The subsequent cooperation between our packs attracted a lot of attention. For many years, the economic and weapon cooperation between Darkmoon Pack and Wilderness Pack was based
on our mate relationship.
Eventually, my father led a delegation into Wilderness Pack to negotiate. Alpha Joseph ultimately agreed to compensate me with one-fifth of his territory and 5 billion in cash. Everyone praised Alpha Joseph’s generosity.
To my surprise, Hallie dared to come to Darkmoon Pack to confront me. She barged

into my office, glaring at me with hostility, and immediately asked, “Evelyn, don’t you think you’re being too greedy?”
I raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
“You took so much of his wealth, burned down his home, and now canceled the wedding venue and reception, with only a week left until the wedding. Is this deliberate?”
I let out a soft laugh. “And what if it is? Didn’t Alpha Joseph tell you that I was the one footing the bill for the wedding? Is there something wrong with reclaiming what’s mine?”
This outcome is what they deserve. I admit Tloved the wrong person and must bear the consequences. Alpha Joseph’s infidelity also comes with consequences. That’s only fair.

Hallie looked at me as if seeing me for the
first time, her eyes wide. “Evelyn, you’re truly
vicious.”
“The world may judge me, but you, Hallie, have no right.”

I studied the woman who considered herself the Luna of Wilderness Pack, letting my smile fade into a frosty expression. “You’re merely a b**h trying to interfere in someone else’s marriage.”
Hallie, instead of feeling shame, smiled smugly. “Evelyn, you’ve been with Alpha Joseph for ten- years, yet you couldn’t hold his heart. Isn’t that your fault? How can you blame me ”
Before she could finish, I grabbed her earring, the one she had taken from me that day, and

yanked it off.
“Ah!”
Her ear started to bleed from the rough pull. Hallie clutched her ear, stunned by my action.
“Evelyn, you-”
I gripped her chin tightly, glaring coldly into her
eyes.
“Hallie, I hate you.”
“And don’t think you’ll take anything that belongs to me.”
I’ve never been someone to trifle with.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t have fought alongside Alpha Joseph through the brutal struggles of

the wolf packs, step by step.
I had controlled my temper, content to be Alpha Joseph’s Luna and his strongest support. It wasn’t that I was soft and easy to bully. It was simply because I loved Alpha Joseph.
Hallie thought she could use Alpha Joseph to hurt me, as if I would be heartbroken and return everything my father fought for back to him.
But unfortunately for her, she’s always misunderstood me. I, Evelyn, am not the fragile woman who can be broken by love.
