The next day, I received a call from the customer service of my wedding dress store, informing me that the dress had been delivered to my office.
When I drove to the pack’s building, the receptionist, who recognized me, offered to call Alpha Joseph to come down and meet me. I stopped her.
In the past, whenever I arrived at the pack, Alpha Joseph would come downstairs to escort me up, saying it was a special privilege for the pack’s Luna.
She looked at me hesitantly and, just before I entered the elevator, said quietly, “Luna, you should be careful with Alpha.”

I was taken aback. Before I could grasp the full meaning of her words, the elevator doors closed.
But soon, I understood.
As I raised my hand to open my office door, I heard the familiar sound of sobbing.
“Alpha Joseph, is this Evelyn’s wedding dress? I would love to have something like this. I envy Evelyn so much. She has not only noble blood but also you.”

“What’s wrong?” Alpha Joseph asked, noticing my hesitation. “It’s not the time to be petty.”
“Jewelry isn’t something rare. Just buy Hallie a set; it’ll show your sincerity,” I suggested

Suppressing the bitterness in my heart and the tears threatening to spill from my eyes, I turned and opened the safe, retrieving my jewelry box. I placed it before Hallie, watching as she picked through my pieces like an intruder, trying them on in front of the mirror.
“Evie, these emerald earrings are beautiful. They must be expensive,” Hallie said admiringly, posing in front of the mirror with my earrings.
I remained silent. Those earrings were a result of saving up for a long time, brought to me by a friend from a distant wolf pack. They were genuine emeralds, designed by me.
