Chapter 15 A Poor Memory
I became nervous.
Was the big–mouthed Gabriel going to tell Mason about my participation in the Dance Gala? This matter was not considered a secret, and it was not a big deal if he told Mason. But Mason was unpredictable and had many grievances against me.
If Gabriel told him, he might have prevented me from participating.
And this was a rare opportunity for me to make money, so I couldn’t let Mason know about it, so as to avoid any unexpected situations.
Seeing that Mason was about to answer the phone, I quickly tugged at his arm. Mason glanced down at my hand, his eyebrows raised slightly, and asked, “What’s the matter?” “Well…” I glanced at the incoming call flashing on his phone screen and smiled, “Could you please not answer his call?”
Mason had a hint of surprise on his face and he chuckled lightly, saying, “Alright, give me a
reason.”
“Well…” I thought for two seconds and quickly said, “Gabriel is a notorious playboy. His calling you now must be to ask you out to have some fun.”
“I didn’t want you to go out and mess with him. I didn’t want you to be influenced by him.” Mason stared at me without blinking for a moment, as if his deep eyes were about to see through
- me.
Just when I felt uncomfortable under his gaze, he suddenly asked, “Why don’t you want me to be influenced by him?”
“Because because I liked you.”
…
As soon as I said that, I wished I could step back in time.
What nonsense was I talking about?
With a dull mind, I was a terrible liar.
“Do you like me?” Mason chuckled as he looked at me.
It was that kind of laughter once again that made me feel anxious.
I nodded in confusion, not knowing what his smile meant.
The telephone ringing had already ceased at this moment.
Mason played with his phone without saying a word.
Just as I breathed a sigh of relief in my heart, he suddenly leaned close to my ear and chuckled, “Do you think I believe you?”
I was taken aback, and instinctively turned my head, only to see the sneer in his eyes.
He straightened up and said in a calm tone, “Back then, you used to have a crush on Gabriel. You said I wasn’t as witty as him, that I was dull and inflexible…”
. I didn’t, no!” I quickly retorted.

What a groundless accusation!

Mason sneered, “It seems that you have a poor memory, Ms. Clark, forgetting many things you’ve done.”
Watching him dredge up old grudges with a cold expression on his face, I felt a shiver run down my spine.
To be honest, I forgot a lot of things in the past.
He clearly remembered it, especially the things I did to him.
No wonder he hated me so much now.
He played with my hair, half–smiling, “Back then, you used to ask me to call him over, and even asked me to learn a few things from him. Why are you now afraid that he will influence me in a bad way, hmm?”
was completely dumbfounded.
Did I really say these words to him before? How come I didn’t have any recollection at all?
Mason twirled my hair and chuckled, “Arianna, you really liked to lie.”
He clearly said in a gentle tone, but the cold gleam in his eyes frightened me. I pondered whether or not to say something nice to please him.
Mason suddenly narrowed his eyes dangerously and said, “You just prevented me from answering a call from Gabriel. Did you have an affair with him?”
What?
…
felt a lightning bolt strike directly on top of my head, leaving me dumbfounded. Mason had a wild imagination.
Did I have an affair with Gabriel?
What was wrong with him?
It was absurd!
Mason stared at me without blinking, and a cold light flashed in his eyes. I quickly denied, “No, no! How could I possibly have an affair with him? Absolutely not
Mason chuckled, wearing a look of disbelief.
I truly regretted it. Had I known that he would associate it with such a ridiculous thing, I wouldn’t have stopped him from answering Gabriel’s phone call.
Just then, Gabriel’s phone rang again.
Mason raised his eyebrows and looked at me.
At this moment, I dared not say a word and gestured for him to answer the call. He snorted coldly, picked up the phone, and deliberately turned on the speaker. Gabriel said, “Damn it, I called you twice before putting it through. What are you doing? Did I disturb you?”
Mason glanced at me and hummed softly into his phone, saying, “Speak up.” Gabriel clicked his tongue and said, “Don’t be so cold. I’m not Arianna. I haven’t offended you.”

Lawkwardly touched my nose.
It seemed that everyone knew that I used to be very bad to Mason.
Mason sneered at me, making me feel quite embarrassed.

I looked away and heard him impatiently say to his phone, “What’s the matter? If there’s nothing, I gotta go.”
“Hey, wait a minute. We’ll have a Dance Gala tomorrow night. Come over, okay?”
“No!”
I sighed in relief when I heard Mason’s firm refusal.
Gabriel was so annoying.
He said he was afraid that Mason would blame him for allowing me to participate in the Dance Gala, but secretly he actually invited Mason to come.
It seemed as if Mason was afraid that Mason didn’t know I had attended the Dance Gala. “Come on. Gabriel continued to tempt Mason, “There’s a surprise, a big surprise.” “I’m not interested!” Mason said indifferently.
Gabriel was still speaking while Mason hung up the phone directly.
I looked at him and cautiously probed, “I heard that all the participants in the Dance Gala were top–notch beauties. Don’t you want to go and take a look?”
Mason raised an eyebrow
an eyebrow and asked, “What? Do you want το go and see?” Į hurriedly shook my head.
He sat down and smirked at me, saying, “If you want to go and see, I don’t mind taking you over.” No, I really didn’t want to. It’s just girls dancing, not interesting at
at all.
“I was just wondering; don’t all you men like to see pretty women? I can’t believe you’re not interested.”
Mason sneered coldly, “No all men like to see pretty women. But you, you can’t take your eyes off handsome guys.
‘I didn’t!”
Mason always liked to wrongly label me.
“Didn’t you?” Mason’s lips twitched.“The first time you saw Gabriel, you stared at him for a full
minute.”
“You, you’re talking nonsense! I didn’t!”
I didn’t know if I really had a poor memory or if this man was observing too carefully at that time. Anyway, I didn’t remember having such a thing.
Besides, Gabriel was not even handsome. How could I possibly stare at him for so long? Mason must have been accusing me wrongly!
Just as I was lost in thought, Mason suddenly grabbed my chin and warned in a cold voice, Anyway, have less contact with Gabriel, and also, don’t bother to inquire about the Dance Gala.

1 was stunned, “Why?”
Mason’s eyes narrowed coldly, radiating a light of danger.
I hurriedly said, “I mean, why can’t I inquire about the Dance Gala? I saw the flyer. It’s just a dance competition.”
“Dance competition?” Mason sneered but didn’t say much. He just coldly warned me, “In any case, you should stay away from any activities they organize and avoid contact with them.”
“Fine.”
Luckily, I didn’t tell him that I would attend the Dance Gala.
Otherwise, with his resistant attitude, he definitely wouldn’t allow me to participate. While I was secretly feeling pleased, I suddenly felt a chilling light shining down on my
head.
