Chapter 23 Is My Body Not Appealing?
As the car pulled to a stop, Neil instinctively reached for the back door, assuming, someone would be in the passenger seat
To his surprise, the back was empty as well.
Frowning in confusion, he asked, “Ms. Wood, where’s Madam?”
Emily, without missing a beat, replied, “In the trunk”
Neil’s mouth fell open in disbelief,
Without wasting a second, he rushed to the rear of the car and popped the trunk.
Inside, Clarissa sat, mid–bite into a grilled pork rib. She froze, her eyes slowly lifting to meet Neil’s.
Caught off guard, her face flushed with embarrassment, and she curled her toes, mortified.
But Clarissa kept her composure, replying smoothly, “Neil”
“Madam… has quite the appetite,” Neil mumbled, his voice laced with a hint of guilt.
With a graceful smile, Clarissa set the half–eaten pork rib back into its container and took out two wet wipes, carefully wiping her hands and mouth.

Linda, the Woods‘ renowned chef, was famous for her grilled dishes. Before Clarissa left, she had packed two grilled pork ribs for her.
Sitting in the trunk, surrounded by the mouthwatering scent, Clarissa simply couldn’t resist.
Clarissa lived by a simple rule. If she wasn’t embarrassed, it was someone else’s problem.
Climbing out of the trunk, she breezed past Neil, tossing out a casual reminder, “Make sure to log my fingerprints.”
Neil, trailing two steps behind, froze, feeling a wave of discomfort wash over him.
Should I mention that the fingerprints on the door now belonged to Mr. Moreno?
They took the elevator up to the top floor of the company, where Chandler’s office was located on the 66th floor.
With its floor–to–ceiling windows offering a stunning panoramic view, it was the perfect spot to take in the dazzling nightscape of Oxbreach.
As soon as they exited the elevator, Neil hurried ahead to open the door. “Mr. Moreno, Madam has arrived.”
The moment Clarissa stepped into view, the entire CEO’s office turned their attention to her.
Even Emily, walking beside her, instinctively straightened up, adopting a more formal posture with a serious expression.

“Let her in!” came the commanding voice from inside.
Neil swung the door open and gestured politely. “Madam, please, step inside?
Clarissa walked in, but Emily tried to follow. Neil gently stopped her with a raised hand.
“Ms. Wood, let me escort you to the lounge for now.”
Emily frowned. “What, am I not good enough to enter Mr. Moreno’s office?
“Not at all,” Neil replied, bowing slightly with utmost respect. “It’s simply Mr. Moreno’s request, only Madam is allowed inside,”
Emily was speechless.
Clarissa turned back with a reassuring smile. “Emily, it’s fine. Just wait for me in the lounge
Emily huffed. “Alright, but if Chandler tries anything, just scream, and I’ll call the cops right away!”
Clarissa couldn’t help but stifle a grin, her lips twitching,
Neil’s expression couldn’t have been more strained.
Was Emily making Mr. Moreno sound like a thug?
The boss had been nothing but considerate toward Madam this whole time.
Neil gave Chandler a mental three–second moment of sympathy, any less would feel disrespectful
Clarissa just sighed, shaking her head quietly. She stepped into Chandler’s office and shut the door behind
her.
After a brief pause, she decided to lock it.
She wouldn’t want any uninvited guests interrupting their friendly chat!
Chandler’s office was massive, spanning nearly 2,153 square feet. A sleek, curved desk dominated the space, while the walls were lined with bookshelves. Off to the side, a separate lounge area beckoned.
It was well–stocked with everything, coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices, and even featured a tiny open kitchen
The kitchen, however, clearly hadn’t seen much use, and the bar was mostly reserved for entertaining
guests.
The office also had a private lounge and bathroom, perfect for Chandler to catch a break during lunch or when working late.
Clarissa had once laid on the bed in that lounge.
It was back when Chandler had been missing from the office for over three months. Leo, livid, sent her to the company to make him turn in his work.
She could still picture the stares from the staff, when she arrived and when she left. Those looks stayed with her even now.

It was tough to put into words!
As memories washed over her, Clarissa settled into a chair across from Chandler.

“The things you see online are just gossip. I assure you, there’s nothing going on with Jerry!” she stated plainly as soon as she took her seat.
Chandler arched an eyebrow. “Are you under the impression that I summoned you to question your relationship with Jerry?”
Clarissa scowled. “If that’s not the case, then what’s the reason for my invitation?”
Chandler laughed softly. “Do you think someone I don’t even acknowledge could attract Jerry?”
That man, appearing so collected and serene, actually
His dismissive look traveled over Clarissa, taking her in from head to toe. It wasn’t that he thought poorly of her. Even if she were to stand before Jerry completely undressed, that man might not even
acknowledge her!
Clarissa felt provoked by his stare. “What are you implying? Is my body not appealing? Am I not presentable enough?”
Chandler merely smiled and remained silent.
His lack of response only heightened the effect of his gaze.
Clarissa was furious, her arms folded across her chest, radiating an air of dignity and chill. “I have no idea who it is, but even though they always say they’re being pressured, they act like they’d rather die than back
down!”
Chandler simply remained silent, his expression shifting abruptly to one of displeasure.
